In this episode of Ask a Nutritionist, registered dietitian nutritionist Maria Frye answers the question, "How does a healthy gut support overall health?”

Gut health refers to the health of the gut microbiome or the function of the bacteria that lives in the digestive system. Studies have shown the eating nutritious foods that contain probiotics found in fermented dairy foods like yogurt, kefir and some cheeses can contribute to a healthy microbiome. 

Join Maria Frye, RDN, as she explains how to reduce the risk for chronic diseases and inflammation in the body by eating foods like fruits, leafy greens and whole grains, all of which have a positive impact on health when eaten regularly. Many factors influence gut health, including the foods we eat, which can ultimately influence metabolism, immunity and overall health.
