In her role, Maria Frye builds relationships and collaborative opportunities with key influencers across her region, which includes educators, school food service professionals, school leadership, health professionals and community
leaders, to prioritize and elevate the health of children and families through nutrition.
A nutrition expert, Maria understands how food choices impact health outcomes. She believes that in order to support healthy children, families and communities, people need to have the knowledge on how to eat healthfully and have the means to access nutritious
foods. She joined Dairy Council of California to put her expertise to use, working closely with school districts and health organizations in her region to provide professional trainings, support and nutrition resources to empower her partners to teach
Before joining the Dairy Council of California, Maria worked in several different clinical settings as an inpatient and outpatient dietitian and gave presentations to the community about healthy eating habits. Maria realized that she wanted to have more
of a focus on nutrition education, leading her to Dairy Council of California. She loves promoting the Dairy Council of California’s nutrition education resources and hosting Ask A Nutritionist, Dairy Council of California’s educational
YouTube series, to further help educate the community on nutrition related topics.
Maria earned a B.S. in Natural Science from Loyola Marymount University and completed her dietetic training at California State University, Fresno and UCSF Medical Center. She is currently taking nutrition classes at the graduate level to obtain her Master’s degree in Nutrition.
