Angela manages nutrition education resource development to support educators, health professionals and food service personnel in teaching healthy habits and the importance of a healthy eating pattern.
Prior to joining the organization, Angela spent over a decade in community nutrition education, collaborating with schools and community organizations to promote, deliver and support nutrition and physical education. Passionate about helping others and promoting the health and welfare of children, the most vulnerable community members, she spearheaded the development of many effective nutrition education resources. Her work, grounded in science and behavior change models, has successfully engaged and improved the lives of children, as with an afterschool cooking and nutrition intervention program that has been recognized and implemented statewide. She believes children learn best when they are well-nourished and supported, and that all children deserve to learn, play and grow to their fullest potential.
Angela earned her M.A. in child development and B.A. in family and consumer sciences, emphasis on nutrition and food, from California State University, Sacramento. Angela is actively engaged in her community. She serves as a board member of Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates, a committee member of the Nutrition and Food and Didactic Programs and Internship Advisory Group at California State University, Sacramento, and a member of the PTA at her son’s school. Angela loves cooking, baking, cycling and “glamping” with her husband and son.
