Meet staff member, Phoebe Copp.Phoebe Petersen is the Community Nutrition Program Manager and leads Dairy Council of CA’s team of community nutrition advisers, supporting communities to elevate the health of children and families in California through nutrition education.

Phoebe excels at building strong relationships, a skill she honed as a Community Nutrition Adviser, and continues to empower healthier communities through strategic statewide and regional partnerships and her strong leadership collaboratives. In addition to her leadership in statewide efforts, she supports and mentors Dairy Council of CA’s Community Nutrition Advisers to help them successfully engaging with educators, health professionals and food service personnel on a regular basis. The Community Nutrition program educates, inspires, and empowers stakeholders throughout California to value, prioritize and implement comprehensive nutrition education in schools and communities across the state. 

In addition to leading the Community Nutrition program, Phoebe co-chairs the California Local School Wellness Policy Collaborative and works with partners across the state to support student health and academic achievement through the implementation of local school wellness policies. She believes that successful community nutrition work relies on strong relationships and collaboration with school and community partners who are invested in supporting the health of children and families. She knows that access to healthy food and nutrition education play a pivotal role in the health and academic outcomes of children, which is why she is proud to lead the community nutrition program and team of Community Nutrition Advisers committed to supporting regional and statewide work that improves access to healthy food and nutrition education. 

Phoebe earned a B.S. in Clinical Nutrition from the University of California, Davis.
