Dairy Council of CA is proud to bring the Mobile Dairy Classroom (MDC) agriculture literacy program to communities throughout California for over a century. This original farm-to-school program educates children on how milk goes from the cow to the school cafeteria, and the important role of dairy foods within healthy eating patterns. We are seeking a full-time MDC Instructor, schedule aligned to a traditional school calendar, in the greater Southern California Los Angeles metropolitan area and surrounding counties working out of Ontario, California. This position is responsible for developing plans and delivering the MDC program to elementary schools in assigned geographical areas as well as virtually. The MDC Instructor proactively seeks opportunities for increasing dairy agriculture literacy within school settings and beyond, such as community Ag Days, county fairs, and other dairy industry events, educating on dairy’s contributions within sustainable, healthy food systems.
To qualify you must have a B.A. or B.S. in Agricultural Education, Animal Science, or related field; prefer six semesters Child Development and/or Elementary Education; plus 6 months to one year of related experience and/or training in working with elementary school age children; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Have a demonstrated ability in working with bovines. Must have basic knowledge of computer and be able to use common business software and applications. Instructors require dynamic public speaking skills and an outgoing personality. This position will require completion of Commercial Class A driver license (no air brakes), Certificate of Clearance from DOJ, and a negative TB test. A teaching credential is preferred.
