Sonia Fernandez, MA

With over 10 years of experience advocating for the health and wellness of local communities across California, Sonia Fernandez Arana, MA, is proud to work on behalf of California’s dairy farm families and milk processors to elevate the health of children and parents. Sonia is a bilingual Community Nutrition Adviser at Dairy Council of California. In this role she builds sustainable relationships with school administrators, school nutrition professionals and community health and education leaders.

By pursuing partnerships, Sonia implements strategies that foster healthy habits that are inclusive of milk and dairy products. She is a member of the local County Nutrition Action Partnership and First 5 California committees and a regional representative supporting the work of the Smarter Lunchrooms Movement of California and the California Local School Wellness Policy Collaboratives.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Science with an emphasis in General Dietetics from California State University, Chico, and her Master of Arts in Teaching at National University in Sacramento.
